Part 2 of Make Mom Cry for Christmas

I found this image in a card my brother and I made for some family member.

My favorite picture of me and my brother

I believe this is Easter, really I just use it because that hairdo of my mom's cracks me up. She's on the far right.

Again all about the hair. Dont you think by cousin on the left looks like Susan Day back in the day of the Partridge Family?

And finally I had to end on my Christmas Puppy Strangulation photo, it's a family favorite.

Bind It All

I purchased a Bind It All a few months and of course stared at it for a few months. But I just lost my job this week, and we all know what happens when unemployment occurs around the holidays, homemade gifts! *insert groan here*

I made a book for my mom. I also made one for my cousin with her pets, but neglected to take pictures before I wrapped it up so I'll have to get some pictures after she opens it.

I'll just spread out the pages in the next few posts, cause I know the excitement will kill you. Hee.

I have this fabulous handmade paper that I simply adore. You know the kind of item that you loved and hate to use because you WILL NEVER HAVE IT AGAIN?!

I hand inked all the inside pages with Tim Holtz's technique of distress inks and water. I love that look and use it on everything.

So off we go ... You know but before we go I have to say Blogger has the worst photo uploader EVER. Now we continue on our regular program.

This is the front cover. It it's got polka dots I love it.

The inside cover

Me, my mom and that furry blurry thing in her lap was our dog Duke

My papaw, and the passer-oner of my curly hair gene.
I found out much later in my life that without his financial help we would have had a hard time making it.
He was our hero.

My mom and her sister who passed away 2 years ago.

To be continued ...

Where did all this s**t come from?

You run across that product you were SO EXCITED to buy and try, and then you bring it home and stare at it. And stare at it some more. Then you send it to live with the Island of Misfit Craft Products.

Rudolph and Santa freed Pearl Ex for a moment today.

Pearl Ex: So Pretty
Pearl Ex: Such a pain in the ass to use

I do (err did) use it with clay and liquid clay, but when it came to paper crafts not so much.
For it to adhere you have to mix it with some varnish, oil or acrylic.
I'm not normally lacquering my cards or books, so there it sat.

I'm making a little Xmas gift book for a present and ran across some Jolene embellishments of autumn leaves. Boooring colors.

See for yourself

So I almost reached for my Perfect Pearls which will set with water, but the lonesome Pearl Ex cried out to me. So I took a dab and mix them with an acrylic vanish and VIOLA!

SPARKLY AND PRETTY!
The green really shows up the best in pictures, but they are all equally pretty.
Pearl Ex you may have more use out of you yet.

Every Who Down in Whoville Liked Christmas a lot…
But the Grinch, Who lived just north of Whoville, Did NOT!
The Grinch hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season!
Now, please don’t ask why. No one quite knows the reason.
It could be his head wasn’t screwed on just right.
It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all,
May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.
Whatever the reason, His heart or his shoes,
He stood there on Christmas Eve, hating the Whos,
Staring down from his cave with a sour, Grinchy frown,
At the warm lighted windows below in their town.

New Glass Pendants

In addition to my oblong 1x2 inch pendants, I'm now making these cute little square ones that measure 1x1 inch.
Being smaller just makes everything cuter doesn't it?

The Cat is Served

Gomez is what I call the Cat Ambassador to dogs. I've never seen a more calm and controlled cat around dogs, really he should represent worldwide. But he wasn't quite as giving with Hannah, she got a bit of a hiss. Problem being is that Hannah is a little *ahem* exuberant in her play and startles Gomez just a tad.

Frosty Flight

I saw this on Ellen Huston's site and just had to make one for myself, it was so creative and adorable.

The little village is made from a Martha Stewart punch, I really haven't bought any thing from Martha's line because some of it was so overpriced but I have to admit I am loving her punches and glitter.

These must be four rogue reindeers, since Santa and the other 4 seem to be missing.

Eye peek

Morticia likes to burrow between things. Her favorite past time is when I sweep and flip over the carpets to clean underneath, she slinks into the tunnel formed when I flip.

This is not a carpet as you can see ;-) Just some pillows on the bed

Whoville

The little houses reminded me so much of Whoville from The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, now I just wish I had little Whos to add. There is glitter (of course) on top of the houses and I had to control myself from not adding more. The paper is from Cosmo Cricket 'Jolly by Golly', adorable set.

All things that sparkle

The holiday season makes me a little giddy over all things sparkly. Ritz Camera (of all places) has a really great selection of crafting stuff at 20% off thru November so I decided to order some Glimmer Mists.

I only ordered three colors; Mimosa, Red Velvet & Suede and they are so pretty and shimmery in their bottles I expect everything to be splattered with them soon. I see a whole new collection in my future of these beautiful colors.

Space Saver

My "craft room" is actually a craft "space", it sits off to the side in my bedroom. With the more shiny and new things I.MUST.HAVE the more space I'm losing. I've organized a lot of my stuff in those stackable plastic storage containers and I just really don't like the way they look.

I saw a cute little shelving/cube mish mash at Target that I.HAD.TO.HAVE.
It came in quite handy, I was able to empty out a whole tower of plastic storage with a little rearranging and now I have everything available right in front of me. (We won't talk about that I still have 2 remaining towers left, shhh).

I also put up a single shelf to the left, but didn't have it set up when I took this picture.

Flower Bouquet

I just ordered this little adorable item from Doodlebug Design. I'm all giddy to get and decorate, I think of course it has to involve glitter.

Blurb about the item: Doodlebug’s Plain and Simple line makes it easy to create one-of-a-kind papercrafted masterpieces—without all the work! This whimsical flower bouquet is constructed of sturdy white-core chipboard and comes ready to embellish. Each piece has been die-cut for easy assembly. Included is an instruction sheet with all the details you’ll need to assemble the vase and flowers.

Little image search in Google and I found this completed one that some talented person had finished. How cute is this?!

Do you know what I love about crafting?

That I have a valid excuse to play with glitter.

I've been coveting the Martha Stewart glitters and what better excuse to purchase than Christmastime?

I ran across a tutorial online about watercolor painting with Distress Inks, SO much fun. These two were my first try; that I was satisfied with at least as you should see my trash can. Stamped on watercolor paper and painted and glittered!

Halloween Planner

Having some fun and expanding into paper crafts, there is so much beautiful paper and fun dodads out there how could I resist?

The template for this is mostly used for Christmas planners, but since I had so much Halloween stuff I thought I'd try this first. The base of all things? A plain ole file folder!

The front tied with a pretty bow

4 pockets to stuff full!

Glass Pendants

I just started adding glass tile pendants to my store. The glass just enhances the images so much, it's a really pretty effect so I think I'm hooked! I just have the rectangular size now, but I have some square sized tiles on the way.

Whatcha reading?

I am trying to make more of an effort to read every day, especially since I insist on visiting Half Price Books and just expanding my book stash more and more.

I've just started Jim Fergus' 1000 White Women, the fictional account of the 'Brides for Indians' program of 1875.
