Merry Christmas All

Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas... perhaps... means a little bit more! Welcome, Christmas, bring your cheer. Cheer to all Whos far and near. Christmas Day is in our grasp so long as we have hands to clasp. Christmas Day will always be just as long as we have we.

See this adorable puppy face?

At appx 5 1/2 months old she has already gone into heat. Sigh. I noticed a bit of blood stains on my bed but was guessing it was from her losing her baby teeth.

Nope my girl became a woman QUICK. The vet had recommend spaying her at 7 months, but I was going to do it at 6. Now I'm going to have to watch when she goes out of heat, then wait 2-4 weeks after that.

Oh and did I mention we started training classes? A female in heat with a bunch of dogs. Awesome.

The Walking Dead

If you're not watching 'The Walking Dead' on AMC please do correct your error and seek it out now. Fabulous zombie series, which has already been renewed for a second season.

They are having a contest for a walk on role as a zombie (are you kidding me, I just peed myself a little) so I was perusing their website and found this Survival Test.

When I first took it I was answering as if one of my answers could kill me, but when I got to the end and saw you didn't die I went back and answered how I'd probably react and I am:

Emotionally Scarred Loner

Ha!

Have fun - The Walking Dead Survival Test

Puppyhood

I recently adopted/rescued a puppy from a friend's house where she had been abandoned. Many dramas later, she's come to stay with us. And my goodness puppies are such an extreme amount of work compared to kittens, I haven't owned a dog for about 11 years now so it's been a lot of fun and frustration. She learns quickly but has a touch of the sass and stubborn which I am working on.

She's part Boston Terrier part Min Pin. I watched a Dog Whisperer episode the other night that had a segment with each breed and I can say now she definitely favors her Boston side in temperament. Min Pins are notorious barkers, but she hardly utters a peep in fact she's a very good watchdog because she only barks when she senses something outside.

So please say hi to Charley.

Lookie what I made!

I was on a step ladder and felt myself losing my balance and started teetering back and forth (teetering; that's a great word) and I didn't have anything to grab on. So I thought "well I should just jump down and land on my feet, better than falling and breaking an arm".

Yea that was the right choice.

New Simon's Cat "The Box"

Tim Holtz New Paper Stacks

Ah yes my friends I haven't even touched the Halloween in Wonderland papers, and here I am picking up a new pad, but it was just one!

**Okay I am so lying I have one more to reveal, there will be no judginess I decree!
And I quite possibly preordered a new Halloween stack and stamps ..... mumbles

When I first saw the look and variety of Tim's new papers I just new I must take a peek at them or cause myself a brain hemorrhage. I decided on the Lost and Found collection, I'm drawn to the dark and rustic colors myself. I got mine at Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon so it was a great deal. They also had Vintage Shabby and Retro Grunge, Vintage Shabby was my next choice, I am a fancy little girl who loves her pastels; the Retro Grunge for some reason reminded me of a circus theme. Not that I do not absolutely love a great circus theme it's too much green for my taste.
If you have read the specifications of Tim's pad they are very different from standard scrapbooking papers and that's what I always love about Tim, he think outside the box.

Each mat stack includes:
12x 12 Designs
6x6 Designs
2x2 Snippets
ATC
Borders
Motifs 12x12
Motifs 6x6
Carres 2x2
ATC
Bordures
**36 papers in all**

I have no idea what I'm doing with these these things, but they do make me squeal like a 5 year old "MINE I WANT THEM, BUT MOOOOOOOOM" Oh and I totally got some of his gears and spinners too, blah blah no one heard that blah.

I plan to stare at them tonite so they will tell me what to do with them, and if that doesn't work it's water boarding bitches.

On a bender?

Apparently I have been since I haven't posted diddly squat since forever. I propose that Sidney and I have just been sitting around watching cat shows.

It cracks me up that he was just FASCINATED with the cats on tv, this was one of those Cats 101 shows and he watched the entire thing.

Tiny = Cute

I'm pretty sure that's a law of physics.

I just made this Lost Dharma logo ring, and it made me go all 'awwwww'.
Really awww over a logo?

Halloween in Wonderland

How friggin adorable is this?!

I should not be spending money unnecessarily since I'm still unemployed but I'm sorry, I could not resist this. It's a pre-order and I got mine at Stop and Scrap with a 15% discount. The discount makes up for the guilt.

I got both the 12x12 and 8x8 pads, along with an extra tag set. It's almost one of those sets that you hate to cut up and use because it's so cute!

I have this cool little fan on my bedside table, the blades are a cloth material so it doesn't require a "cage" around the blades because if you stick your hand near it the blades don't cut. Nifty.

Morticia also thinks it's nifty. I wish I had taken a video instead of a photograph but she loves to stick her face in the moving fan. Silly cat.

I love how cats fit perfect on anything they are sitting on, she's plopped herself on my clock to spy something on the wall to knock off.

Thanks to Angie ..

For her recommendation of using an open book to photograph my rings. I gave it a try and found it a little easier to get a clear picture, and also minus the annoyance of contorting my body on the bathroom floor to photograph the piece.

Giveaway! AKA Free Stuff

From my friend at Hopemore, she is offering a beautifully crafted polymer clay pendant along with a black necklace.

Entrance is a breeze, you need only leave a comment. Contest ends on the 17th, so hurry on over and be sure and check out the rest of her inspiring blog.

You may find the giveaway and her lovely blog at Hopemore Studios

My Next Hurdle

Seems to be photgraphing rings. It's a bitch doesn't begin to cover it. I am considering buying one of those finger displays that are used at jewelry stores and art fairs. I do find the severed finger incredibly creepy though.

Also I do not have the most exquisite hands, while they are fairly well formed and small in proportion; they photograph as if I have a red rash over my entire hand. "Hi my mother was part lobster." I am able to correct this somewhat with a little use of the tan brush in Corel and softening of the picture, but I sure wish I could find a hand model.

Wanted: Severed beautifully manicured finger
No?

I normally photograph my things on the floor of the bathroom, perhaps I'll move them to higher ground on the sink .....or result to creepy severed finger display.

Lost Finale Tonight

Writing this thru my tears of utter depression that my favorite show is coming to an end, I'm offering a special to those who read my blog.

Get free shipping on any of my Lost pendants thru May 28th.

Just mention that you saw the offer here in my blog in the Comments to Seller section when you checkout, and all shipping charges will be refunded.

Sniff. Goodbye Lost.

Where to take that picture?

I am forever wandering around trying to find the best place to take pictures, forever buying paper for backgrounds or looking for some surface around my house. It's exhausting people.

I have discovered of all places ... the bathroom.

The bathroom floor to be more exact, found some non-detracting paper and WALLAH* perfect pictures.

I also upgraded my old Canon Powershot to a new one, which is working just dandy and it's a lovely chocolate brown. I believe I'm just going to smack my old one up on Ebay to sale.

* for those not in on the WALLAH joke ... Normally one would say VOILA! but a forum I'm a member of people are constantly misspelling things and they seem to work their way into my everyday speech from mocking them so. Hence the story of WALLAH!

Survived the plague

I got sick last Sunday with some mutant flu/bronchitis/respiratory infection and was knocked off my feet for a week. I can't remember the last time I was so sick. Still have a horrible cough but I feel 100% better. I didn't move all week, so now I'm busily getting some Etsy orders out, updating shop and cleaning up house.

I also didn't put together the cats' new toy either, so they just lounged around on top of the box for a week. Got a chance yesterday, it was relatively simple and a big hit!

Gomez and Morticia check out this new contraption

Sidney enjoys the inside of the condo and the bouncy green thing!

Best part of the gift always seems to be the empty box

Ebay Loot

So instead of being practical and sane, I decided to use the money I got from my Ebay auctions on stuff for ME. ME ME ME. No one said I was reasonable.

I got my first flat screen tv! A 32" Samsung for my bedroom. Adore it, I may never leave the bed.

Then I decided with the last bit of money I should get something for the cats. I have been planning for ages (and I do mean ages) to get them a tree; a furniture tree, not planting a real tree in my house in case you were wondering.

I got a great deal from Armarkat, this sucker is 72 inches tall. You know in a pet store this would would go for $300 up, plus the added addition of dogs having peed on it. Ordering from Armarkat was $125 plus free shipping. It will be here Monday.

Now putting it all together is a whole 'nother ball of wax. I am the woman known to my friends who got the shower stand (it had a tension rod) stuck behind the toilet (don't ask).

Bengals love to climb so I hope this gives Gomez some fun, he got booted out of my bedroom last night for scaling up on a wall shelf last night. I think my oldest kitty Lucy will love the hammock if Gomez doesn't pester her.

Happy Accident

So I wasn't all that pleased with my resin experiment (see previous post), I don't think I mixed the resin right or I'm just too damn picky and they probably looked fine and I just found some tiny flaw I didn't like.

So I soaked the frames to remove the paper so I could salvage the frames .. and whadda ya know after I peeled the resin from the frames I had the prettiest little translucent images that had transferred to the resin. Excuse my gluey fingers.

You really can't tell up against the white since that compliments and brings out the color, but they are very interesting looking and not a lost cause after all!

Going Once, Going Twice

I don't know if I have any fellow Buffy fans who read my blog but I thought I'd share some Ebay listings I'm putting up, there will be more added as I get around to taking pictures. I may have some non related Buffy items too, as umm I have a wee problem with buying collectibles.

I have WAY too many collectibles to ever display and appear normal ;-) So I'm doing some de-stashing to whittle down my collection.

Please visit if you are interested Ebay Auctions

Oh and to note that adult item is not a pervy porno tape, we'll it's a little pervy ... it's the 1997 Brad Pitt Playgirl magazine that was jerked off the shelves after a court order. One of my adorable gay friends bought it for me, so I thought I would pass it along to another Brad fan.

Quite a Pickle

I'm making some new pendants for my Etsy store with ornate frames, I just love the vintage look and think they will go perfectly with all my Alice in Wonderland illustrations.

I've protected the back with several layers of acrylic gloss and a dimensional gloss, but what do do about the front? I tried using the dimensional gloss for the front, no go as the paper needs more support in the back. On some of the sizes I can attach a thin piece of glass or acrylic to the back, but for the other unusual sizes I don't have the pieces to match.

I am thinking of trying resin, I normally avoid it since you have to mix it perfectly and almost don a hazmat suit to use. I'm going to try it on the front first and see if that provides enough hardness and support, if it doesn't I'll try a thin layer on the back too. I probably will end up resining (is that a word?) my fingers. Wonder if that would sell on Etsy?

Here are the before, and I'll post the afters soon. It's the pouring of the resin I'm nervous about it's a thick consistency so I hope I can have enough control to place it just inside the frames.

Inky Fingers

I am messy.

My fingers, hands and nails seem to be permanently stained with some sort of ink, dye or pigment 24/7. I do figure one of these days I will be interviewing for a new job and hate to go in looking like I finger paint all day.

Any recommendations for a product that's a good removal for umm crap all over your hands?

It's especially annoying under my nails, which suffer anyway from all the picking and scraping I seem to do with them in my crafting. So not only do they turn scraggly but scraggly stained. Lovely.

New Work Space

After spending the week de-trashing and de-hoarding my cousin's garage, I finally have a new work table. I've been working off a folding table for years, that banged against the wall if I made the tiniest of movements on it. Banging on walls = weenie dog barking her fool head off. Which leads to much shouting of STOP BARKING!

The most exciting thing? DRAWERS! I can now put all the things that cluttered up the top of my work table into drawers. Which may of course mean I need to buy much more stuff.

The only thing I don't like is the sitting area is a bit narrow, I tend to cross my legs and put them up on my chair when I work and that doesn't quite work with this desk. But I'll learn to live with it cause ummm drawers!

Christi Friesen Projects

I'm in the midst of going through my collectibles, deciding what to keep, what to sell, what to trash blah blah.

I found packed away the very first CF sculptures I did, I have all her books and just adore them but never seem to find the time to sit down and do more. Her new steampunk book is especially fun, and I must take time to make one of the pieces.

"A Compendium of Curiosities" by Tim Holtz

Just received mine in the mail last week. I am such a fan of Tim; I'm always in awe of his creations and his seemingly limitless ideas. The book is divided into five sections, and comes in a nice spiral bound style that will lay flat on your work table.

Tools: Covers the line of tools offered by Ranger and Tim, pretty much all the standard items we either own or covet.

Ideas: Gets a little bit more in depth about Tim's line both new and old, and offers some suggestions on what you can use them for. Not my favorite part of the book, one page per item with a small pictures included for the project ideas.

Techniques: Now this was my pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow. It covers pretty much every technique Tim has compiled over the years, with simple instructions and pictures. I would have much preferred more of this section than the "Ideas" one.

Gallery: Your standard photo gallery showing off some of the techniques and findings used in the book.

Suppliers: A small list of the manufactures of the products but it does not include any independent stores that sell the products online or in brick and mortar stores. So meh, not so helpful.

Tim also added a little page for "Notes to Self" but just one page, a few more pages of these cute pages would have been nice.

Overall I pretty much love everything Tim produces and this book is no exception, I've already been playing around with the alcohol inks on some ornate metal frames I have.
Fun and messy, the best combination for creating.

I found mine here with the cheapest price and affordable shipping.

The Evil Queen is here

I am Lisa. I collect premium statues cherished in the geeky community, think of the show The Big Bang Theory :-). Well the most beautiful of them all arrived today so I had to share, she is exquisite. This is the exclusive edition limited to 300 worldwide, my girl is 248. I fully expect all these acquisitions to finance my retirement.

Math is Hard

I have two prints from Etsy artists Noosed Kitty and Lisa Hurwitz, that were odd dimensions so I couldn't buy conventional mats for them and I really didn't want to pay to have them framed. So I did a good ole diy project of course! Oy, me and measurements are not friends. I don't know what it is but I swear I must have wasted sheets of paper and they are still a little "off", I just consider the offness goes with the quirky prints. Yea that's it.

I may splurge on professional framing next time just to avoid the headache :-)

Martha Stewart Kit

I found these little felt flower kits marked down at Walmart for just a couple of bucks, so I snagged them up to play around with them. Quite a bit of fun, for the embellishments I used beads and glitter from my stash as I wasn't too impressed with the ones found in the kit. The kit also contained the barrettes, clips, bobby pins and ring base to attach the flowers to. I'm hoping to give them away to some friends who have little girls, I think they'd be perfect.

Celebrate the Final Season of Lost

With a Dharma Initiative pendant! I currently have The Swan, The Looking Glass and a Dharma logo pendant made, but am happy to make any of the other logos into a pendant for you.

I'm so sad to see Lost end, it's the smartest tv show I've watched in years. I wanted to create a keepsake for my fellow fans out there to enjoy.

Design Your Own Calendar

I bought a few of these kits as Christmas presents, and *duh* had to get one for myself. This kit was Basic Grey I believe and SO much fun. The kits come with all the embellishments, but I added a bit more from my personal stash. So basically all you need is to print out your own photos, grab a glue stick and get to crafting.

I think this one may be my favorite. I don't know what is it about your pet in a crown, but I love it!

Grant from Ghosthunters! So bummed Jason wasn't there too.
